What’s next for Brookline spa after it was bought by an investor

SAN DIEGO (AP) The owner of a Brookline, California, spa that closed over a decade ago and became the subject of a California lawsuit says he is now selling the business.

In a statement released Thursday, Jim Ruggiero said he plans to close Brookline’s Brookline Spa and Treats Spa, located in a residential community just north of Los Angeles.

The spa opened in 2007, when Ruggieres first opened the spa in the town of Brookline.

It closed in 2016.

The Brookline town, which is about a 20-minute drive south of Los Angelenos, has seen a dramatic decline in the number of visitors since then.

Ruggieros website, brooklynspa.com, includes a video that shows the spa closed in 2004, but it says the facility was bought and reopened in 2008.

The spa was then renamed Brookline Spas.

Ruggleieros lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The business was shuttered in 2016 because the owner wanted to retire and the spa was not financially viable, according to the California attorney general’s office.

In January, Ruggierios lawyers said the spa had lost more than $200,000 in a single year, including losses on renovations.

The town had already sued the spa, saying it had a right to terminate the lease on the property.

The town was also trying to recover some of the $1 million in lost revenue, the attorney general said.

Riggierios website did not list a sale price.
